Terms and Conditions for Renting a Car

Car Rental Terms and Conditions

Before renting a car with us, please review and agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Identification Requirements
    - Valid and original documents required for verification include:
     - Working ID card or PAN Card
     - Aadhar card
     - Driving license (minimum 1 year of driving experience required)

2. Alcohol and Smoking Policy
   - Renter must not be under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substances during pickup.
   - Smoking of tobacco, weed, or consumption of alcoholic beverages inside the car is strictly prohibited. A penalty of ₹10,000 will be charged if violations are detected.

3. Usage Guidelines
   - Pets or commercial goods are not allowed in the vehicle.
   - Commercial use of the car without management approval (e.g., rentals, shoots) is prohibited.

4. Responsibilities
   - Renter must take photos and videos of the car's interior and exterior before renting, including tire, battery, and wheel drums.
   - Pickup and drop-off timings must be strictly adhered to. Delays will not be considered, and extensions require prior notice.

5. Penalties
   - Any delay in car drop-off or extensions without prior notice will incur a penalty of ₹2,000.
   - In case of any breakdown of the car, the renter is not allowed to touch any spare parts of the car without the proper permission of the SRM Cars Management

6. Cleaning and Maintenance
   - The interior of the car must be clean upon drop-off. A cleaning charge of ₹500 will be applied for bad odor, stains, or vomit.
   - Only full payment is accepted at the time of car pickup. Early drop-offs do not qualify for refunds.

7. Speed Limit
   - Our cars must not exceed 80 km/hour as per Indian government regulations. Violations pose safety risks and legal consequences. Extra fuel will not be considered for the payment refund.

8. Deposit Amount

The renter is required to make the full payment as per the quotation at the time of car pickup. If the renter returns the car earlier than the scheduled drop-off time, no refunds will be provided for the unused duration.

- After booking a self-drive car on our website, our team will contact you to collect a booking deposit of ₹1500 for 5-seater cars and ₹3000 for 7-seater cars before the commencement of the rental. This deposit is mandatory for all cars and will be refunded upon returning the car.

Damage & Repair Policy

In the event of any damage occurring during your rental period, repair costs will be determined based on OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) estimations. Here's how repairs will be handled:

​

Damage Categories:
Minor Damage: Repair cost not exceeding Rs.10,000 according to OEM estimation. The total repair amount will be deducted from the customer's security deposit. If the repair cost exceeds the deposit, the remaining amount will be collected from the customer.


Major Damage: Repair cost exceeding Rs.10,000 based on OEM estimation. If eligible for insurance claim, a minimum of Rs.10,000 will be collected from the customer. Any unclaimed amount will also be collected from the customer. The contract will remain active until all payments are settled, and the customer's properties will not be released until then.


Severe Damage: Repair cost exceeding Rs.20,000 or repair duration over 10 days based on OEM estimation. If eligible for insurance claim, the total unclaimed amount and daily lease cost (not less than Rs.1,000 and max Rs.2,500 per day) will be collected from the customer. Similar to major damage, the contract remains active until all payments are settled.


Out-of-City Repairs
If repairs are required outside the leasing city, the customer must bear the costs at an OEM-recommended facility with lessor approval. Failure to comply will result in deductions from the deposit. Any excess charges beyond the deposit amount must be paid by the customer.

This revised policy aims to provide clear guidelines on how damage assessments and repairs are managed during the rental period. Adjustments can be made to align with specific business practices and legal requirements.

Insurance Policy:

In the case of car damage under ₹25,000, customers are responsible for covering the repair costs based on the showroom quotation at the time of vehicle drop-off.

​

For damages exceeding ₹25,000, customers may be required to:
- Pay a depreciation amount of ₹25,000.
- Settle the difference in insurance claim amount as per the claim quotation.
- Pay half of the rental amount for the duration the car remains in the showroom.

​

No claims will be applicable if the damage results from traffic violations, rash driving, driving under the influence, or if the driver has less than 1 year of experience in hill station driving. In such cases, the renter must cover the entire cost of damages.

​

The renter is responsible for towing charges and any legal or police formalities until the vehicle reaches the showroom for further servicing.

​

Using the car for off-road purposes will result in zero claims, and the renter will be liable for the full damage costs.

​

Please ensure compliance with these guidelines to avoid any issues during the rental period.
